This variety has a petite rhizome compared to other cannas and grows 4 to 5 feet tall. We love this canna planted next to Black-Eyed Susans, coleus, or elephant ears. It also pairs well with Yellow King Humbert and Grande Red Stripe. There isn't much information on the origins of 'Australia,' which is a hybrid varietal of the species Canna indica. It is one of the darkest foliage cannas we have ever seen, making it a fantastic contrast to other green leafed plants and shrubs! Our #CannaTipTuesday series continues! We love sharing helpful tips with you through the growing season. For those already starting to receive their shipments, this week's tip has some helpful information for what to do when your package arrives. Tips are posted weekly on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Now is a great time to plant cannas in zone 9 areas, such as: Arizona, Southern California, Florida, Southern Texas Up next will be zone 8 gardeners who can usually start planting cannas in mid-March: Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA, San Francisco, CA, Chattanooga, TN, Dallas, TX, Salem, OR, Carlsbad, NM Happy planting!
