We hope you had a wonderful first few days of May!
We especially hope you enjoyed at least a few minutes in your garden to breathe some fresh air and dream of summertime blooms (to those in warmer areas who can look at your blooming cannas instead of daydreaming about them, we are jealous of you!).
If you live in an area where soil temperatures are averaging 60 degrees, it is time to plant your cannas! It is now warm enough to plant cannas outdoors in zone 5b and warmer. Zone 5a should be warm enough within the next week or two. Once planted and watered in, cannas won't need regular watering until sprouts are peaking through the soil. Freshly planted canna bulbs and water aren't a great combination. Too much water too early causes rotting. Patience and warmth are the perfect companions to a freshly planted bulb! Lots of water is great in the heat of the summer but detrimental to new bulbs in early spring.
We are shipping canna rhizomes and live plants daily. The shipping process is a finely tuned machine. Everyone pitches in, often rotating tasks from day to day. We prepare packing slips and planting information, pull live plants from the greenhouse, fill bulb orders, and carefully pack your items into their boxes before printing the shipping label and taping it closed. Not to mention stapling the boxes together, tearing apart stickers, filling up staplers, and many other small tasks. We rely on the knowledge and skills of everyone on our team to get packages assembled and on their way to you.
Speaking of shipping cannas, we have CannovaⓇYellow plants available again starting today! We love this cheerful plant and know you will too. While we are shipping live plants, there is still plenty of time to plant bulbs this season! Some of our highly sought-after varieties like Cleopatra, Black Knight, and Firebird are still available in limited quantities. We expect them to sell out soon, so get yours while you still can!
We hope this week brings you joy! Please let us know how we may be of service to you.
