September passed in a blur - a warm blur. We "enjoyed" warmer-than-usual temperatures of over 100 degrees for much of the month. Despite the heat, we enjoyed having guests during our Sunflower Days event. Keep reading for a few sunflower photos at the end of this email. It was remarkable to have visitors from far and wide, including our neighbors, people from all over Oklahoma, many places in Texas, including Dallas and Houston, Louisiana, Florida and even someone from New York! We look forward to hosting the event again next year from September 19th to 28th, 2025.

Up next for us is the harvest season. This can be a stressful period due to the requirement of heavy machinery and many moving parts as well as racing against the clock - we want to have all cannas out of the field by the first hard freeze. This week was our trial run to smooth out the kinks and fix any issues with machinery before we hit the ground running on Monday morning. Check out our YouTube video for an inside look into what harvest looks like. We look forward to sharing more harvest photos with you in our next email.

Thankfully, October has been a pleasant reprieve from the heat. We hope you feel the same way - whether it is a rest from the busy start of school, a break from harsh summer weather, the end of a stressful month at work, or maybe the resolution of a hard season of life. We hope this new month and the beginning of fall is a breath of fresh air.

We hope you have a restful weekend,

-Madison and the HCF Team
