Houseplants can benefit from occasional fertilization during their active growing period, typically spring through summer. Use a fertilizer intended for indoor plants and follow the manufacturer's application directions. Fertilizing can generally be reduced or discontinued during periods of slower winter growth.

Remove yellowing, damaged, or spent foliage as needed to keep plants looking their best. Periodically turning the container can also help encourage more even growth as the plant naturally reaches toward its light source.

Leaves may occasionally be wiped gently with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and keep the foliage looking fresh.
